This unincorporated community is located in the north western region within Whatcom County. Its residents are employees of the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project and those who are involved in local county, state or federal agencies and not open to permanent residents who do not work for these specific groups. It is surrounded by the Ross Lake National Recreation Area and is just a mile away from the North Cascades National Park.

Nearby Area Attractions

Seattle City Light Skagit Hydroelectric Project -During the summer, you can go on a 4 ˝ tour where you will take a ride up the mountain on an incline lift, go on a boat ride to Ross Dam & Powerhouse, then return for a family-styled dinner at Diablo.

Walking tour - Begin at Gorge Powerhouse then onto the Gorge Rock Garden and end at Ladder Creek Falls.

Lake Whatcom Railway - To see the country side as they did in days of old, take the 7 mile (round trip) steam train ride. The passenger cars are antiques from a Northern Pacific train.

Whatcom Museum of History and Art - To learn more about the area’s history visit the 3 buildings here which house regional and historic displays.

Whatcom Falls Park -This 240 acre park has a state fish hatchery, hiking trails, sports fields, picnic areas, and especially for children, there is a playground and children’s fish pond.

Lake Padden Park -Here you will find a wonderful area for spending some time in the great outdoors. The Park offers swimming, fishing, boating in Lake Padden, but if you prefer “drier” activities, you can go horseback riding, golfing on the 18 hole miniature golf course, play tennis and other assorted sports, or pack a picnic lunch then watch the kids play on the playground.
