The rapidly growing city of Spokane has many venues to explore from historic architecture to riverside parks, museums to art centers there is guaranteed to be something that interest you and your travelling companions.
Spokane Parks
Mt. Spokane State Park - for hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, picnicking and camping with the impressive Mount Spokane(5,881 ft) and Mount Kit Carson(5,306 ft) towering above.
Riverside State Park - Along the Spokane River, this beautiful park offers hiking, horseback riding, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, picnicking and camping. For extra fun, there is a 600 acre off-road vehicle area and for a more relaxed activity spend some time at the interpretive center.
Riverfront Park - This city park has lots to do. You can watch a film at the IMAX Theater, see a show in the outdoor amphitheater and play in the game room. More active fun can be found in crossing the suspension bridge, sky riding over the falls, play a game of miniature golf, or take a ride on the roller coaster and carousel. You can pack a picnic or eat at the restaurant or grab a quick snack from the vending courts.
Spokane Art & Architecture
Cathedral of St. John - A beautiful Gothic sandstone structure with exquisite stained glass windows, wood and stone carvings, and recitals on the 49 bell carillon and Skinner organ.
Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture - Here you can see fine art along with collections of regional history and Native American culture. Next door is the restored 1898 Campbell house.
Spokane Gardens
Finch Arboretum - An almost 70 acre site where you can see the awe inspiring Corey Glen Rhododendron gardens and 2,000+ varieties of shrubs and ornamental trees.
Manito Park - From Japanese gardens to the Duncan Formal Gardens you will be astounded at the assortment of flowers planted here. Also on location is the conservatory, a duck pond and the Davenport memorial fountain.
Additional Activities
Mobius Science Center and Mobius Kids - A fun place to see how science affects everyday life. There are exhibits on technology and science, weather, hydroelectric power, music and regional history. Of special interest is the kid’s area where learning through the senses -- especially touching -- is not just a acceptable but encouraged.
Mount Spokane - Hit the slopes via the 5 double chairlifts and race downhill on runs as long as 1 1/2 miles and vertical drops of 2,000 ft. Available on site is a rental shop, day care, school, patrol cafeteria and bar.
